She didn\u2019t even endorse him. Instead, she\u2019s publicly endorsed another candidate in the race.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>Carol Sabo, the former mayor of West Cape May, looked at Tim Alexander\u2019s campaign website for the first time on Wednesday when contacted by The Inquirer. She was shocked \u2014 and irked \u2014 to see her name listed as endorsing Alexander alongside a statement attributed to her that topped 360 words.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>Sabo had already released her own statement endorsing his opponent, Cape May Mayor Zack Mullock. The two candidates are running in the four-way Democratic primary to faceU.S. Rep. Jeff Van Drew in the 2nd Congressional District, which covers much of South Jersey. <\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>\u201cAs the Mayor of West Cape May, I have had the privilege of serving a community that values inclusion, fairness, and genuine public service,\u201d the false endorsement statement begun. It goes on to list specific projects Sabo has been involved with and praises Alexander for having a \u201cdeep commitment to justice and accountability.\u201d<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>\u201cIf you know me, that\u2019s a lot of words for me to say,\u201d she said on the phone. \u201cI\u2019m a little more succinct than that. My endorsement of Zack, which is my word for word endorsement, you\u2019ll see is much shorter.\u201d<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>Alexander, a civil rights attorney who is running in the district for the third time, said posting the statement was \u201ca mistake, plain and simple.\u201d<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>He said his campaign pre-wrote endorsement statements for his supporters to \u201cget them started.\u201d The candidate said his team prepared one for Sabo because they expected her endorsement before Mullock entered the race in February.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>\u201cWhen I\u2019m endorsing somebody, I want it to be in my words \u2026 I don\u2019t need somebody else to write that,\u201d Sabo said.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/corporate-movers-usa.com\/?p=99\">2 fatal shootings reported in Chester, the latest in a spate of violence<\/a><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>Her name had already been listed on Alexander\u2019s website before someone who works for his campaign added the falsely attributed statement last Wednesday.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>\u201cThat one got lumped into the emails that went to the web designer to list all of the endorsements,\u201d Alexander said. \u201cIt was not intentional and it certainly wasn\u2019t trying to be misleading.\u201d<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>Alexander said his campaign removed the false endorsement from its website when The Inquirer and Sabo brought it to their attention Wednesday. But while Sabo\u2019s name was removed from the endorsement page, the post with her fake statement was still on his \u201cnews\u201d page four hours after The Inquirer informed Alexander\u2019s team.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>Sabo said she attended one of Alexander\u2019s early campaign events and \u201cspoke of him in a supportive way,\u201d but never actually endorsed him. She said Alexander\u2019s team asked for a formal endorsement after the event and she declined because at that point Mullock had just entered the race.
