A 17-year veteran NBA assistant coach, Micah is the father of Phillies outfield prospect Dante Nori, a 2024 first-round pick. <\/p><p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/corporate-movers-usa.com\/?p=1442\">35% of Airbnb and VRBO rentals in Philly don\u2019t have the right licensing, new report finds<\/a><\/p><div><\/div><div><\/div><p>Micah Nori was the lead assistant coach for the Minnesota Timberwolves for the past five seasons, supporting the development of star shooting guard Anthony Edwards. Notably, with head coach Chris Finch sidelined with a ruptured patellar tendon during the 2024 playoffs, Nori took over a majority of the game day operations that postseason. The Timberwolves went on to make the Western Conference finals. <\/p><div><\/div><div><\/div><p>Just over a month after the Timberwolves fell to the Dallas Mavericks in that series, Micah was with a 19-year-old Dante when he was drafted by the Phillies with the 27th pick out of Northville (Mich.) High School. <\/p><div><\/div><p>Earlier this week, prior to the Blazers announcement, Dante appeared on <i>The Show before The Show, <\/i>Minor League Baseball\u2019s official podcast. On the podcast, he talked about the various NBA players he grew up around due to his father\u2019s profession. When Micah coached for the Toronto Raptors, Dante got to hang out with Vince Carter. Then, when his father was hired by the Kings, he learned from DeMarcus \u201cBoogie\u201d Cousins. <\/p><div><\/div><div><\/div><p>More recently, he has taken inspiration from Edwards\u2019 work ethic.<\/p><div><\/div><div><div><iframe loading=\"lazy\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"315\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/48TaLO47els?feature=oembed\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%; position: absolute; left: 0;\" title=\"Phillies Extra: Dante Nori Interview and Zack Wheeler Update\" width=\"560\"><\/iframe><\/div><\/div><div><\/div><p>\u201cI mean, [Edwards is] a freak,\u201d Dante said. \u201cThe most explosive athlete I\u2019ve ever seen in my entire life. You see the way he takes care of his business. Like, he\u2019s one of the top five players in the NBA. And personally, I\u2019d say he\u2019s No. 1. You know how that goes.<\/p><div><\/div><p>\u201cWhen I go [to the Timberwolves practice facility], I\u2019m always in there like 5 a.m. lifting before they get in because I\u2019m on their time. As soon as I\u2019m done, [Edwards] is one of the first ones in. No matter what level you\u2019re at, the work, he never stops. He always wants more.\u201d<\/p><div><\/div><div><\/div><p>In March, Dante starred in the World Baseball Classic. In six games with Italy, the outfielder had a 1.185 OPS with two home runs and six RBIs in six games. <\/p><div><\/div><div><\/div><p>Prior to the semifinal, Dante got a shoutout from Alex Rodr\u00edguez \u2014 who is also a co-owner of the Timberwolves. <\/p><div><\/div><p>\u201cThis is a future star,\u201d Rodr\u00edguez said on the Fox pregame show. \u201cDante Nori. Do not forget the name.\u201d<\/p><p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/corporate-movers-usa.com\/?p=1440\">The Spring-Ford school district is moving to fire a Spanish teacher supported by community members<\/a><\/p><div><\/div><div><\/div><p>Rodr\u00edguez\u2019s proximity to Dante\u2019s father may have made him a bit biased. <\/p><div><\/div><p>\u201cPeople were like, \u2018Let\u2019s take that with a grain of salt,\u2019\u201d Nori told the Inquirer. \u201cYou laugh. As soon as I saw that, I was like, \u2018Oh, here we go. Someone\u2019s typing [a message]. Someone\u2019s typing.\u2019 I laughed about it, though.\u201d<\/p><div><\/div><div><\/div><div><\/div><p>Off the field, Dante is an avid baseball card collector. Micah, who played baseball at Indiana before finding a career in basketball, shares this interest with him. He even helped Dante track down some of his rookie cards on eBay. <\/p><div><\/div><p>\u201cWhen I paid, I used my real name and address,\u201d Micah told the Inquirer. \u201cThe guy was like, \u2018Wait, are you related?\u2019 I said, \u2018Yeah, I\u2019m his dad.\u2019 It\u2019s a cool little community. Because the people would be like, \u2018Oh my gosh. I have a couple more right here. I\u2019ll send them to you.\u2019\u201d<\/p><div><\/div><div><\/div><div><\/div><p>Micah inherits a Blazers team that finished 42-40 and is headlined by 25-year-old All-Star forward Deni Avdija and veteran Damian Lillard.
