Camden\u2019s historic tavern-turned-museum<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n

The stone building dating back to the 18th-century in Camden<\/b> has played several roles \u2014 tavern, private home, a British outpost, and a dump for toxic materials, among other functions. The land where it sits also was once the location of mass auctions of enslaved people. <\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

More than two centuries later \u2014 and as the country celebrates its Semiquincentennial \u2014 the Benjamin Cooper Inn is now South Jersey\u2019s American Revolution Museum. <\/p>\n

<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n

The new, $4.6 million museum is funded through a mix of federal, state, and local sources, but mostly from the New Jersey Historic Trust. <\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

Although it is not fully ready, the museum held a soft opening on Saturday. It\u2019s been six years in the making, and there\u2019s still a lot of work to do. <\/p>\n

\ud83d\udcb0 According to one lawmaker, Rowan University\u2019s Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine will get enough funds, $6.2 million, to \u201ckeep the lights on.\u201d <\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

\ud83d\udcb0 A South Jersey program that provides healthcare to children who\u2019ve experienced abuse is set to receive $1.85 million after the legislature restored the funding that Gov. Mikie Sherrill originally slashed. <\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

\ud83d\udcb0 Hispanic Women\u2019s Resource Centers, established in the 1990s to address wage gaps for Hispanic women, has $1.8 million allocated \u2014 almost 30% less than what they received this year. <\/p>\n
