That\u2019s a modest premium to FMC\u2019s recent trading price but less than the share value as recently as June 1. The stock rose as much as 1.6% in early trading Wednesday before slipping back toward Tuesday\u2019s close of $11.50.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>FMC traded at over $120 a share in early 2022 but has since lost most of its value, with crop-protection sales growth slowing worldwide amid slow progress on regulatory approval and marketing for new products to offset last year\u2019s expiration of patent protection on the company\u2019s best-selling Rynaxypyr insecticide. <\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>The buyer expressed faith in FMC\u2019s next-generation fungicides, herbicides and insecticides. <\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>\u201cFMC offers an attractive opportunity to invest in a business with meaningful long-term potential, driven by a new generation of proprietary molecules that are renewing its portfolio and strengthening its competitive position,\u201d Luc Tack, chief executive of publicly traded Tessenderlo Group, said in a statement.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>That includes products developed at the company\u2019s Stine research labs in Newark, Del., which FMC acquired from DuPont Co. in 2017 as DuPont spun off its farm chemicals and seed business into Corteva.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>FMC \u201cperfectly aligns\u201d with Tessenderlo\u2019s farm businesses, Tack added. Tessenderlo gets a seat on FMC\u2019s board as part of the deal.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>Those include Kerley, an Arizona-based farm fertilizer maker and niche pesticide distributor; sulfur-based fertilizer maker Tiger-Sul, based in Connecticut; and French organic fertilizer developer Violleau. <\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/corporate-movers-usa.com\/?p=1865\">\u2018Rock star\u2019 Ben Franklin, with some help from Queen and Bruce Springsteen, reminds us that Philadelphia is the soul of America<\/a><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>Other Tessenderlo investments include plastics, chemicals, industrial machinery, electronics, and animal-byproduct (\u201cbio-valorization\u201d) businesses.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>FMC\u2019s board approved Tessenderlo\u2019s investment after a \u201ccomprehensive and deliberate\u201d process, which the company started in February with its investment bankers and lawyers, as the best way forward for the company and its shareholders, said Pierre Brondeau, FMC board chairman and chief executive.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>The $400 million inflow is the last piece in FMC\u2019s efforts to reach Brondeau\u2019s debt-reduction and cash-boosting targets, so the company can more easily remain independent until its new products get to markets. <\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>Other recent steps by FMC included renegotiating its credit agreements; raising $1.2 billion in a junk-rated bond offering; selling its India commercial business for around $250 million; a $200 million deal to supply key products to its larger rival, Corteva, which is moving its headquarters from Wilmington to Indiana; and selling the 250-acre Stine Research Center to a unit of New York-based real estate investor Broadstone Net Lease Inc., while leasing back part of the property for continued research. <\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>These actions, plus reduced debt and increased cash, put FMC \u201con a path to growth,\u201d Brondeau said. <\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>FMC employs around 5,500 worldwide, including around 300 at its headquarters and 330 at the Stine research and development center.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/corporate-movers-usa.com\/?p=1863\">Historic church at 42nd and Pine to become apartments after Penn declined to buy the building<\/a><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FMC had lost value as sales growth slowed worldwide and a key insecticide patent expired. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":1868,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[2],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-1869","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.7 -
