He was a starter who impacted both ends of the floor, while averaging 14.1 points, 5 rebounds, and 1.4 steals in 50 games in 2025-26. The 6-foot-8 wing used his athleticism in a more controlled way on offense, shot a career-best 36% from three-point range last season, and had the willingness to take on challenging perimeter defensive assignments.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>Oubre\u2019s choice occurred after he also reportedly planned to meet with at least the Sixers, Lakers, Pacers, and Portland Trail Blazers. The Sixers had Oubre\u2019s full Bird rights, which permit teams to re-sign their own free agents even if they are over the salary cap.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>Though Oubre said \u201cI love it here\u201d in Philly during his end-of-season news conference last month, his length and positional archetype are typically valued league-wide. I always say I like to finish what I start, and this is a bit sour for me. But at the end of the day, it\u2019s already written.\u201d<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>Yet the 30-year-old also has previous experience with the harsh realities of free agency. He reminded during his end-of-season news conference that, after averaging 20.3 points per game with the Charlotte Hornets in 2022-23, he \u201cstill found myself barely getting any contracts\u201d until the Sixers signed him to a veteran\u2019s minimum deal in September.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>Oubre\u2019s departure comes after the Sixers also lost sixth man Quentin Grimes, who reportedly agreed to a four-year, $60 million deal with the Lakers Wednesday afternoon.
