{"id":1965,"date":"2026-07-02T23:43:26","date_gmt":"2026-07-02T23:43:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/corporate-movers-usa.com\/?p=1965"},"modified":"2026-07-02T23:43:26","modified_gmt":"2026-07-02T23:43:26","slug":"east-whiteland-directs-data-center-developer-to-stop-work-on-superfund-site","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/corporate-movers-usa.com\/?p=1965","title":{"rendered":"East Whiteland directs data center developer to stop work on Superfund site"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><div><div><audio><\/audio><\/div><\/div><p>The developer of a sprawling proposed data center on an East Whiteland Superfund site must temporarily halt any work that disturbs the soil as the municipality reviews plans, the township said Thursday.<\/p><p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/corporate-movers-usa.com\/?p=1963\">The last legal obstacle for the Trump administration\u2019s own President\u2019s House panels has been removed<\/a><\/p><div><\/div><p>\u201cAny work involving earth disturbance of any kind must cease,\u201d the township said.<\/p><div><\/div><div><\/div><p>The stoppage was requested \u201cuntil greater clarity is provided with respect to the ongoing review\u201d of thesoil and health and safety plans by the township and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. <\/p><div><\/div><p>Permits needed for the development such as fencing, construction trailers, and signage are still valid. <\/p><div><\/div><p>Township residents have raised concerns that the planned 1.5-million-square foot data center will be built on top of the Cyprus Foote Mineral Co., which was contaminated by chemicals such as lithium, arsenic, and hexavalent chromium.<\/p><div><\/div><p>The developers, Green Fig LLC and Sentinel Data Centers, have said the site has been cleaned.<\/p><div><\/div><div><\/div><p>A representative for the developers did not immediately respond to The Inquirer\u2019s requests for comment.<\/p><div><\/div><p>Site work had been underway since early June, after the developers saw success in court when a judge dismissed residents\u2019 challenges to the project. <\/p><p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/corporate-movers-usa.com\/?p=1961\">Connolly Dermatology, a once fast-growing practice, faces N.J. lawsuit over unpaid wages<\/a><\/p><div><\/div><p>Residents told The Inquirerthey saw dust plumes rising from the site last month. It resurfaced concerns about what contamination may still exist on the land that previously housed the 79-acreFoote Mineral, which was added to the Superfund list in 1992. <\/p><div><\/div><p>Contamination likely started as soon as 1941 when the company began crushing ores and minerals. Lithium metal, lithium chemicals, and inorganic fluxes were part of the process. <\/p><div><\/div><div><\/div><p>Cleanup so far has included capping contaminated quarries, stabilizing waste areas, and maintaining a long-term monitoring program for an evolving groundwater plume. Pollutants included lithium, boron, and low-level radiation.<\/p><div><\/div><p>The work stoppage is another wrinkle in the ongoing saga of the project, which first secured approvals in 2018 and 2024.
