Kaney will also do some sports anchoring work for the station, much like her role at Fox 29, which she left last month. <\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m so grateful for the support all of my colleagues at Fox 29 have given me during my time there, but especially in the last few months,\u201d Kaney told The Inquirer. <\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>Those last few months included being laid off at WIP as part of company-wide cutbacks by parent company Audacy. <\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>The move was a surprise considering Kaney was coming off her first full season as the station\u2019s sideline reporter during Eagles broadcasts after replacing Howard Eskin, who abruptly left the station in January 2025 following an incident with a female staffer. Kaney jumped in and served as the station\u2019s sideline reporter during the Eagles\u2019 Super Bowl run.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>She also served as an on-air host, worked with the station\u2019s popular morning crew, and hosted shows alongside Phillies announcer and former general manager Rub\u00e9n Amaro Jr.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/corporate-movers-usa.com\/?p=2227\">SEPTA cuts 3 Glenside Regional Rail trains along with other schedule changes this week<\/a><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>WIP hasn\u2019t announced who will replace her, and the clock\u2019s ticking. The Eagles\u2019 first preseason game is five weeks away, with the Birds taking on the Baltimore Ravens on Aug. 15. <\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a tough job,\u201d WIP program director Rod Lakin told The Inquirer in 2025. \u201cYou have to be someone that\u2019s a really good communicator. You also need to be able to change quickly \u2014 circumstances change all the time in the NFL, and you\u2019ve got to deliver that information quickly and in a collaborative way, because the game doesn\u2019t stop.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>Over at Fox 29, Kaney\u2019s role was partly taken over by former 6abc sportscaster Jamie Apody, who among other things is anchoring the station\u2019s 10 p.m. newscast. <\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>While Kaney is leaving the city, she\u2019ll continue to host <i>Werth Talking About<\/i>, a PHLY podcast she\u2019s co-hosting with former All-Star Jayson Werth.
