Philly joins the Cleveland Cavaliers and Miami Heat, two former homes where James won NBA championships. And Paul has said James will make his choice based on \u201chappiness,\u201d which could pertain to basketball, to life, or some combination of the two. <\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>What are the cases for the three remaining possibilities? Here is a breakdown. <\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<h3>Sixers <\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<h4><i>Pros<\/i><\/h4>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<h5>A perfect fit<\/h5>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>Paul said while breaking down his now-famous white board of possible James landing spots that \u201ceverything changed\u201d with the Sixers once they pulled off the blockbuster trade for Jaylen Brown. <\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>James would perfectly slide into the forward spot of a potent starting group, which also features former NBA Most Valuable Player Joel Embiid, All-NBA third-teamer Tyrese Maxey, and standout young guard VJ Edgecombe. <\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>Though the clich\u00e9 that James\u2019 skill set and exceptional basketball IQ fits with any team is true, the Sixers do make a ton of basketball sense. <\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Rich Paul made a whiteboard laying out LeBron\u2019s \u201crealistic\u201d destinations<\/p>\n<p>(via Game Over Pod, @TheHeatCentral) pic.twitter.com\/QrpQ4QM2e6<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Legion Hoops (@LegionHoops) July 3, 2026<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<h5><b>A fourth title<\/b><\/h5>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>Coming to Philly also would allow James to chase a championship with a fourth team, enhancing his argument as the greatest player in basketball history. <\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>There also would be some oomph behind doing it with the Sixers, a storied franchise that has not advanced past the playoffs\u2019 second round since 2001 and has not won a championship since 1983. <\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>If James helps the Sixers finally over the hump, that is a legacy-building final act. <\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<h5>The Maxey connection<\/h5>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>James also has a longtime friendship with Maxey, another prime Klutch client. Maxey has worked out with James since his predraft process in 2020. Maxey\u2019s name had an asterisk next to it on Paul\u2019s white board. <\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>James also has ties to president of basketball operations Mike Gansey, who played against the NBA star in high school and worked in the Cavaliers organization for over a decade.
