The energy was low, he said, so he had all the players stand on the top step of the dugout. <\/p><div><\/div><p>\u201cI told them I was incredibly proud of them, but I also said \u2018Man, wouldn\u2019t it be something if we scored six runs here\u2019, and then I walked away,\u201d Garciga said. <\/p><div><\/div><div><\/div><div><\/div><div><\/div><p>The Rangers did score six runs. For Garciga, winning the game was special, but giving these athletes the experience of coming to Philadelphia during All-Star Weekend and being guests of MLB was the real success.<\/p><div><\/div><p>\u201cFor us it is about developing major league citizens,\u201d Garciga said. \u201cOur program is at no cost to the families. We have nothing to gain from wins and losses, all we care about is the success and development of these kids. We want to see them become good people and teach them how to overcome adversity.\u201d<\/p><div><\/div><div><\/div><p>The Commissioner\u2019s Cup brings together 17-and-under teams from the MLB Youth Academies across the country and Puerto Rico. The academies, which began with the opening of the Compton Youth Academy 20 years ago, are designed to grow baseball and softball while creating opportunities for young athletes in underserved communities. There are now 10 academies across the United States and Puerto Rico. <\/p><div><\/div><div><\/div><p>The trip to Philadelphia was just as memorable as the baseball for many of the players. It was the first visit to the city for many of the Rangers players, who took in the skyline, experienced the excitement of All-Star week, and had their first Philly cheesesteak at the ballpark. <\/p><div><\/div><p>\u201cThe MLB took the funds out and took the time to give us this great experience for every single player here,\u201d Hubbard said. \u201cThey gave us the opportunity to create new bonds, make new friends and eat great food.\u201d <\/p><p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/corporate-movers-usa.com\/?p=2504\">Fans express \u2018heartbreak\u2019 after storm causes Louis Tomlinson show to be canceled<\/a><\/p><div><\/div><div><\/div><p>Players from the other youth academies who did not advance to the final game filled the stands Monday, cheering for both teams throughout the game. <\/p><div><\/div><div><\/div><p>\u201cThe academies as a whole are for people who don\u2019t get many opportunities like other people,\u201d Rangers player Vincent Hood said. \u201cSo to come out here and win, it\u2019s not only a step forward for us, but a step forward for the program and people in our area who might not have many opportunities.\u201d <\/p><div><\/div><div><\/div><div><\/div><p>The academy has also created lifelong friendships for these players. Arthur Darensburg, who joined the Rangers program last year, said he immediately felt welcomed. <\/p><div><\/div><p>\u201cMy first year was last year, and I didn\u2019t know anybody,\u201d Darensburg said. \u201cFor them to bring me in as a brother and create this bond is special.\u201d <\/p><div><\/div><div><\/div><div><\/div><p>The Rangers will leave Philadelphia with their second trophy, having also won in 2024. <\/p><div><\/div><p>\u201cSome of these guys have been at the academy since they were 12 years old and have grown there,\u201d Garciga said. \u201cThe fact that this group gets to have this big crescendo of a moment in such dramatic fashion is just so special.\u201d <\/p><div><\/div><div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"128\" height=\"128\" alt=\"The Inquirer logo\" class=\"wp-image-47\" src=\"https:\/\/corporate-movers-usa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/faba80d67140212ba32240655442c529.png\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<\/div>\n        MLB All-Star Game in Philly\n      <\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Baseball&#8217;s biggest stars are descending on Philadelphia for the 96th All-Star Game at Citizens Bank Park on July 14.
