But there are plenty of places that are likely to see fan gatherings throughout the city. <\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>At Union Yards and Reaney Street, outside of Subaru Park, the Philadelphia Union will host what the team is calling \u201cSoccer Celebration.\u201d There, you\u2019ll find dedicated viewing areas for select World Cup matches, interactive fan activities, giveaways, and live music \u2014 while food offerings will rotate to include menu items specific to competing nations. Entry is free with advanced registration. <\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>For the theatrically inclined, select AMC Theatres locations \u2014 including Cherry Hill and Bensalem \u2014 will be showing Telemundo\u2019s live Spanish-language broadcasts of certain games, with advance tickets available through the AMC website. <\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>Officials are also expecting various neighborhoods across the city to be hubs of action depending on the matchups. When Brazil plays on June 19, for instance, there figures to be a good amount of energy along Castor Avenue in Northeast Philadelphia, home to a sizable Brazilian population. <\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<h3>Where to play, not just watch<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>If you feel like pulling on a pair of boots and hitting the pitch yourself, you\u2019ll find no shortage of options. <\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>CASA Soccer Leagues \u2014 the region\u2019s largest independent amateur soccer league \u2014 will host a World Cup-style adult soccer tournament from May through July at various sites across the city, from South Philadelphia to the campuses of Temple University and Drexel University. <\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>The group also hosts regular pick-up games, as well as beginner programs for those hoping to learn the sport. <\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>\u201cAdults who want to try a new sport and get involved and learn a little bit,\u201d said Clinton. \u201cEvery week, you\u2019ll come, a coach will kind of teach the group the basics of soccer, [and] you can just come in your sneakers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/corporate-movers-usa.com\/?p=425\">The Philly area\u2019s best farmers markets | Let\u2019s Eat<\/a><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>(For those looking to socialize without all the running, the organization is also planning a slew of watch parties.) <\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>Down the road in Chester, the WSFS Bank Sportsplex boasts a number of playing fields and is a regular hive of activity. <\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s soccer there almost every day of the week,\u201d said Mike Blankemeyer, travel director for Sons of Ben, an independent supporters group for the Philadelphia Union. \u201cI go over the bridge a lot for work, and there\u2019s always somebody out there on the pitches.\u201d<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<h3>World Cup for kids<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>What Lemon Hill is for adults, Safe-Hub Philadelphia hopes to be for kids. <\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>The Kensington-based organization, which uses soccer to create safe spaces to the community, is planning a number of youth-focused events throughout the course of the World Cup festivities \u2014 among them, the Grassroots Cup on June 13-14, a youth tournament featuring more than 300 kids. <\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>\u201cWe really want to use the World Cup as a way to get kids in the door,\u201d said Clinton. \u201cTo experience a love of the game and be in a safe space that\u2019s really soccer-centered.\u201d<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>In addition to being a mecca of soccer gear and merchandise \u2014 including a LEGO replica of the World Cup trophy \u2014 Soccer Post Cherry Hill has seven TVs that will be tuned to the World Cup. <\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>The site will also host a four-day soccer camp for kids ages 8-11, running from August 24-27, that will include various forms of training and conclude with a mock-World Cup tournament. <\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>And for the more bookish young fan, Free Library of Philadelphia is slated to offer soccer-themed programming throughout the spring and summer. <\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<h3>Choose your own adventure<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>If being on the fringes of the action isn\u2019t quite enough, there\u2019s always the option of simply wading into the eye of the storm. <\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>\u201cEven if I don\u2019t get tickets, I\u2019ll probably head down to the [Lincoln Financial Field], just to experience what it\u2019s about,\u201d said Chris Turk, 54, of Fairmount, a contributor to The Philly Soccer Page, a website devoted to the city\u2019s soccer scene. <\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>\u201cI think Philadelphia is really gonna put on an awesome showing,\u201d he added. \u201c[And] I think people who come here this summer for soccer are going to be amazed by how cool Philadelphia is.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/corporate-movers-usa.com\/?p=423\">How your small business can profit from this summer\u2019s events | Expert Opinion<\/a><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From fan fests to pickup games, here\u2019s how to enjoy the World Cup in Philadelphia \u2014 no ticket or bar required.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":388,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[2],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-428","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.7 -
