A woman who stabbed her mother to death in West Philadelphia over the weekend was arrested Monday morning, police said.

The woman is accused of stabbing her mother multiple times on the 4600 block of Westminster Avenue on Sunday evening, a spokesperson for the department said.

Police have not identified either the suspect or the 67-year-old victim.

Officers responded to the scene around 10:50 p.m. to find the victim suffering multiple stab wounds, according to police.

She was transported to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.

Initial police reports indicated that the woman’s daughter had fled the scene after the attack and was on the run.

The department said Monday morning that the woman was now in custody of the homicide unit.
