A nonfunctioning grenade was thrown into a Hunting Park home Thursday morning, where no one was injured and the home was evacuated, according to the Philadelphia Police Department

Police responded to the 400 block of West Courtland Street at 1:59 a.m. for reports that a grenade had been thrown into a residence. The home was evacuated, and the Philadelphia Police Bomb Disposal Unit arrived at the scene at around 3:37 a.m. to safely secure the device.
Following an examination, bomb squad officers determined the device to be non-explosive, or “inert,” and posed no danger to the public.
