Meet Cedar Run Wildlife Refugeâs first staff vet
Meet Amanda Cameron, Cedar Runâs first staff veterinarian in its nearly 70-year history as a wildlife refuge in Medford.
Roughly 8,000 annual birds, raccoons, rabbits, turtles, and other types of animals come though Cedar Run for care each year.
Cameron has a relatively rare job as one of the few full-time wildlife vets in the tristate area. Cedar Runâs executive director doesnât know of any other wildlife refuge with a vet on staff.
With only two weeks on the job, sheâs doesnât have the complete operational space yet to conduct exams and procedures, but sheâs been able to start on a few cases. So far, sheâs received a warm welcome, especially from the refugeâs rehabbers who are eager to learn from her and potentially save more animals.

The family of the man who died at Delaney Hall wants answers
Edwin Jeovanny LĂłpez Cornejo, an immigrant from El Salvador, died on Saturday at the Delaney Hall ICE facility in Newark after having a medical episode. The facility has been the subject of national attention as the site of ongoing protests, political fights, and complaints of poor conditions.
According to his family, he had been living in the U.S. for two decades before he was detained on June 18. They accuse ICE of neglecting to provide proper medical care.
Danilo Lopez, the brother of LĂłpez Cornejo, put forth a list of demands in a Tuesday news conference which include:

An independent investigation of the incident conducted by New Jersey Attorney General Jennifer Davenport.

A release of his brotherâs medical records from ICE and the facilityâs owner, GEO Group.
