A Philadelphia police officer and another person are in critical condition after being shot early Sunday morning in Southwest Philadelphia, police said.

Video from TV news reports showed a significant police presence at Elmwood Avenue and South 73rd Streets, in the city’s Eastwick section, in the pre-dawn hours Sunday.
Police told reporters at the scene that someone flagged down an officer, who found two gunshot wound victims outside a hookah lounge near the intersection.

One of the victims is an off-duty police officer who was shot more than once and is in critical condition, police told reporters. The off-duty officer did not fire his weapon.
Another person, believed to have been shot once, is also in critical condition, police told reporters. No suspect is in custody.
