The Union won an appeal of the suspension that came with Cavan Sullivan’s red card at the end of Wednesday’s tie with Inter Miami. That means he’ll be eligible to play in Saturday’s game at Austin FC (9 p.m., Apple TV).

Sullivan was ejected for his role in a shoving match with Miami’s Yannick Bright amid a fracas that started when Quinn Sullivan and Miami’s Ian Fray got tangled up.
The fine that came with Cavan Sullivan’s red card also was rescinded.
Appeals of suspensions in MLS are heard by a three-person panel, with one each from the U.S. Soccer Federation, Canada Soccer, and the Professional Referee Organization that oversees referees in league games.
The panel is independent from the MLS Disciplinary Committee, which hands out supplemental discipline for incidents on the field.

Each team gets two unsuccessful appeals per year between the regular season and playoffs. The league confirmed that the Union still have two appeals to lose.
The disciplinary committee handed down two other sanctions to Miami players.
Fray was fined for putting his hands on Quinn Sullivan’s head at the start of the sequence that led to Sullivan’s quasi-wrestling move to get Fray off his back, from which everything else ensued. Lionel Messi was fined for slapping Sullivan on the face after tempers quieted down.
The amounts of both fines were not disclosed, as is usual in MLS.
The committee notably did not punish Quinn Sullivan for his action toward Fray.
There is no word whether Bright will get extra discipline on top of his ejection for the scuffle with Cavan Sullivan, which included his appearing to throw a punch in Sullivan’s direction. Because he’s automatically suspended for Miami’s home game against Toronto on Saturday (the Herons did not appeal that), the disciplinary committee has time to decide whether it will do anything more to him.
