Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia had a $271 million operating profit in the first nine months of fiscal 2026, up from $195.8 million the year before, according to the nonprofit’s latest report to municipal bond investors.

CHOP’s operating profit margin — the highest among the Philadelphia region’s nonprofit health systems — improved to 6.7% from 5.3% the year before.
Here are more details from the report released earlier this month:
Revenue: Total revenue rose 9% to $4.1 billion from $3.7 billion, thanks to strong gains in payments for hospital patients and unspecified other operating revenue.
Patient volumes: Outpatient visits were mixed for CHOP. Primary-care visits and emergency department visits fell. Specialty care had strong gains.

Key financial measure: CHOP remained flush with cash at the end of March, with enough financial reserves to fund operations for 424 days without taking in more revenue.
That compares with 191 days at the University of Pennsylvania Health System, 129 days at Thomas Jefferson University (excluding Jefferson Health Plans), and 113 days at Temple University Health System.
